Testimony:

Like stringing pearls, Karen's Christian faith has been a life-long process. Each decade brought a different pearl of Biblical understanding.

Jesus Christ became her Lord and Savior when she was twelve years old. Bible study and seeking God became a life-long passion. However, for too many years, she lived as a performance-driven Christian striving to earn God's love.

When Karen finally learned to be still and meet with God . . . rather than strive to do things for God . . . she experienced God's rest and the satisfaction of knowing Him more intimately.

Biography:

Karen grew up as an Air Force brats and lived in several places. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Theater Arts from the University of Central Arkansas. After college, she served ten years as an Air Force Public Affairs Officer. Then, she turned in her combat boots for baby booties and became a stay-at-home mom. She was also a homeschool mom for ten years and coached Jr. High and High School Drama.

She is a speaker for women's church retreats and special events. She's also spoken at co-ed retired senior church groups and MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers). For eight years, she served as a volunteer jail chaplain to women inmates for eight years.

Karen's written numerous articles and devotions for Christian publications including Discipleship Journal, The Upper Room, The Secret Place, Women Alive, The Bible Advocate's ezine: Now What?, Fullfill, and MOMSnext.

Her story "Tender Mercies" appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Military Families (May 2017).

Karen's other first-person stories have been published in six Inspire anthology books: Inspire Faith, Inspire Trust, Inspire Promises, Inspire Forgiveness, Inspire Joy, Inspire Love.

She is currently writing a nonfiction narrative book called Lunch with Loretta:Feeding a Soul Hungry for God. The book is about two women in a mentoring relationship who meet for lunch and discuss how to apply Biblical truth to their circumstances. Each chapter focuses on one key point (such as spiritual indifference) the reader can apply to their own lives. To make the book more delectable, recipes are included.

Her other interests include reading, watching classic movies, attending live theater, and flying in her husband's Citabria taildragger plane.

Karen and her husband Dan live in the golden hills of Northern California. They are blessed with three grown children: two sons, a daughter and son-in-love.

       MOPS Speech: Another You

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What? You too? I thought I was the only one.' " ~ C.S. Lewis

"Think of the multitudes who thronged Me when I was on earth all eager for something. Eager to be healed, or taught, or fed.

Think as I supplied their many wants, and granted their manifold requests, what it meant to Me, to find amid the crowd, some one or two, who followed Me just to be near Me, just to dwell in My presence."
